Connect X to Your Own Product in 6 Steps (OAuth 2.0, the 2026 way)
The real OAuth 2.0 + PKCE flow, not the deprecated four-key dance. Ten minutes, one app, two values to copy.
What You Will Build
Ninety-nine percent of people who want their app to post to X give up at the developer portal. Not because it is hard - because nobody shows them the two screens that actually matter and lets them skip the twelve that do not.
By the end of this you will have X posting from your own product, on your users' behalf: the real OAuth 2.0 + PKCE flow, not the deprecated tweepy four-key dance you will find in every 2023 tutorial. Ten minutes. One app. Two values to copy.
Prerequisites
Tip
Before you start, you need two things. First, an X account to own the app - use a dedicated brand account, not your personal one. Second, a verified phone on that account, because X gates developer access behind it.
Mental Model
Your users click "Connect X" inside your app, X asks them to authorize, and your app can then post as them. That is it. The plumbing is a standard OAuth 2.0 Authorization Code + PKCE exchange, and X gives you exactly two secrets to make it work.
Steps
Each step is one action and its visual proof. Follow them in order; the first two are free, the rest unlock with Supporter.
Open the X Developer Console
Go to console.x.com signed in as your brand account. This is X's newer, credit-based console; it merged with the xAI console in 2026. If a 2024 tutorial sends you to developer.twitter.com, you are in the right family, wrong door.
You land on a dashboard showing your credit balance (X posting is pay-per-use now) and your Apps. Click Apps.
Open your app, then Settings
Click your app, then the Settings button next to its name. This opens Authentication settings - the one screen that makes or breaks the whole integration.
